03Product description

Why does the Kemah mesh conference chair have a short back?

The Kemah mesh conference chair is designed for spaces where many chairs are used side by side: meeting rooms, reception and service desks, and training rooms. Its back is intentionally kept short. That lets the chair slide easily under the table, keeps the room looking open and makes it easy to get in and out.

Since we assemble this model in our own workshop and repair it in our service department, we will be honest: Kemah is not for everyone. We do not recommend it as an all-day desk chair. For one- or two-hour meetings, training sessions and short visits, however, it is exactly the right choice.

Where a short back makes sense

Tall-backed chairs make a narrow meeting room look crowded. With a short back:

  • The table area looks cleaner and less cluttered.
  • Sitting down and pulling up to the table is quicker.
  • At reception counters the chair stays discreet even when it is in plain view.

That is why Kemah is the model we most often install in corporate rooms where dozens of meeting chairs are in use at once.

Mesh back: look at the build, not the label

Many chairs sold as "mesh" lose their tension within a few months. The back then gives way and you can no longer lean back properly. The mesh we use on Kemah is more tightly tensioned. It is not rigid, it adapts to your body, but it does not sag.

In closed meeting rooms, complaints about sweating drop noticeably too. Customers who struggled with back problems on other mesh chairs tell us this is what they appreciate most.

Seat foam: durable rather than soft

The seat uses 5 cm of high-density foam. It does not feel "cloud-soft" on day one, and some users even find it firm. Experience is clear, though: soft foam collapses quickly, while Kemah's foam keeps its shape far longer.

  • Pro: Slower to sink, holds its shape.
  • Con: May feel firm at first to those who like a soft seat.

Mechanism, armrests and base

  • Mechanism: A single-lever tilt lets you recline and lock the back. It is simple, and easy to repair if it ever fails.
  • Armrests: Black plastic arms integrated with the frame, sturdy when pulling the chair in and out. Like any armrest, they can be damaged by very rough handling.
  • Base: A black plastic star base that matches the frame. It is not as strong as metal, so for very heavy users we recommend a metal-base model; for normal office and meeting use it is perfectly adequate.

Who is it for?

A good fit for meeting and training rooms, reception and service desks, and organizations looking to balance quality and budget.

Not ideal for staff who sit at the same desk all day. For that, see the taller-backed models in our mesh work chair range. More meeting chair options are in the mesh conference chair category.

The most common cleaning mistake

Strong chemical sprays are the biggest mistake: they stiffen the mesh and crack the upholstery. Lukewarm water, a little neutral soap and a soft cloth are all you need. A weekly pass over the mesh with a soft brush is enough.

Repairability and warranty

Kemah's mechanism, mesh and foam can all be replaced, so the chair never has to be thrown away. As stated in the product information, it carries a 2-year warranty against manufacturing defects. What matters most to us is that spare parts remain available years later. Re-upholstery and mesh replacement are done with original parts.

Production and ordering

Kemah is not a stock item; it is built to order. Average lead time is about one week and may vary with larger quantities. As a custom-made product, returns are generally not possible.

Questions about this model

Have a question?

Because of its short back, we do not recommend it for full days at a desk. It performs very well for one- to two-hour use in meeting, training and reception areas.
