Does the writing tablet really help?

The foldable writing tablet attached to the right armrest is the model's biggest strength. Flip it up during a presentation and you have a flat surface for a notebook, tablet or laptop. Fold it down and it tucks to the side, turning the chair back into standard seating without taking up space.

The open-close mechanism is simple, which is a plus; complex mechanisms are the first to fail. To be fair:

• Pro: Makes note-taking and device use much easier.
• Con: Limits movement in narrow rooms.
• Tip: Plan row spacing carefully before installation.

Back and seat

The back uses polyurethane foam over a rigid plastic frame, giving a soft first feel that follows the body. The seat has 5 cm of grey foam, upholstered in faux leather or fabric, which is the right thickness for a conference chair.

In budget conference chairs the foam collapses much sooner; on the Zeta, that wear shows up far later. Still, it is not built for marathon sessions.

Chrome-plated metal profile legs stand firmly and spread the load evenly. We have often seen thin profiles bend over time; the Zeta's load distribution is sound. Plastic caps protect the floor from scratches, and setting up straight rows is easy, which is why training venues favor it.

Cleaning and care

• Wipe upholstery with a damp cloth without pressing.
• Avoid chemicals, which damage both foam and upholstery.
• Dry-wipe the legs.
• Do not lean on the writing tablet when sitting down or standing up.
