Hugo Mesh Work Chair: Adjustable Lumbar Support for Long Workdays

The Hugo mesh work chair is designed for people who spend eight to ten hours a day at a computer. Its standout feature is a lumbar pad that slides up and down to sit exactly in the curve of your lower back. Together with a breathable mesh back and synchro mechanism, it helps reduce back fatigue over long hours.

We build Hugo to order, install it in offices and handle its repairs ourselves. Chairs that come into our workshop have taught us why so many so-called lumbar-support chairs do not work, and we describe Hugo with that experience in mind.

Why Lumbar Support Matters, and How Hugo Handles It

Many chairs sold as lumbar-supported have a pad that is either too hard or fixed in place. Because it does not match the user's back, it is soon dismissed as useless. The most common complaint we hear is simple: the support does not line up with my back.

On Hugo, the lumbar pad moves up and down, so users of different heights can position it precisely. The curved backrest keeps the spine in a natural position and supports an upright posture during long sessions.

To be clear, a chair alone will not solve serious conditions such as post-surgery disc problems or severe scoliosis. In those cases, follow your doctor's advice and add an extra cushion if needed.

The Real Advantage of a Mesh Back

In budget mesh chairs the mesh can sag within a year, losing both support and appearance. Hugo uses a thicker weave that is flexible yet holds its shape.

The mesh flexes as you move, so no pressure points build up. Because air flows through, your back stays dry even in offices with weak air conditioning, a difference anyone prone to sweating notices immediately.

Seat and Upholstery

The seat uses 5 cm of high-density foam. When cheaper foam starts to sink, numbness and tingling in the legs can follow; dense foam delays that problem considerably.

• Faux leather: looks smarter and wipes clean.

For offices with long working hours we usually recommend fabric.

Mechanism and Details

Dual-lever synchro mechanism

With a synchro mechanism, the seat and backrest move together. Lock them at your preferred angle or leave them free for dynamic sitting, ideal for anyone who likes to change position during the day.

Class-4 gas lift

The Class-4 gas lift makes height adjustment smooth and secure, with no sudden drops. We see many failures caused by low-quality cylinders, which is why we pay attention to this detail.

Arms, base and castors

The black plastic arms match the frame and offer a comfortable rest. The 5-star base is light but strong, and the 65 mm PU castors run quietly without scratching carpet or marble.

Cleaning and Care

• Vacuum the mesh back weekly so dust does not build up.
• Wipe upholstery with a damp microfiber cloth and soap foam; chemical detergents fade and crack it.
• For stubborn stains, we re-upholster the seat in our workshop.

As a long-established manufacturer with an in-house repair service, we replace mesh, mechanisms, gas lifts, lumbar pads and castors with original parts. Because we keep parts ready, repairs are completed quickly.

Hugo is never kept in stock; upholstery colour and material are built to your choice. The average lead time is about one week and may extend in busy periods.
